Even After
A downloadable game
Even After the smoke settles, we endure.
What is this game?
Even After is a collaborative tabletop role-playing game about Community rebuilding after a world-altering crisis. The nature of that crisis is unimportant. What matters is that it happened, and in its aftermath remain the survivors.
Players tell the story of how a community comes back together, not through violence or conquest, but through care, patience, shared space, and mutual aid. This is a game about holding the gathering bag, and deciding how the good remaining inside it is shared.
What you need
- 1 standard deck of playing cards
- 2–4 players (solo play supported)
- 90–120 minutes
- A table, floor, or shared space
- Some drinks and snacks if possible
How it plays
The community is represented by four pillars, each tied to a suit of cards:
- ♠ Spades — Time: patience, seasons, growth
- ♣ Clubs — Space: shelter, distance, places to gather
- ♦ Diamonds — Resources: tools, food, knowledge
- ♥ Hearts — Care: listening, comfort, a warm hearth
Players take turns contributing what they can, searching through the remnants of what was lost, resting when they must, and deciding together how the community survives.
The game ends when the pillars are strong enough to carry the community forward, changed, but still here.
